Obituary

Courtland - Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Ferguson, Jr. ,71, passed away Sunday December 1, 2024  at his home with his family by his side. Woody was a native of Franklin and was a son of the late Woodrow W. Ferguson, Sr., and Caroline Ferguson Brock. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Terry Lynn Ferguson, and Jo Ferguson Jarrett, his stepfather, Richard H. Brock, his father in law, James "Goat" Daughtrey, and his brother in law, Bubba Campbell.

Woody was a dedicated Husband, Father and Pops. He was a longtime area volunteer firefighter and EMT with 50 years of service with the Hunterdale, Sedley, and Franklin Fire Departments. Woody was a member of Community Hunt Club, and an active member of The Harvest Christian Fellowship Church. Woody had held several jobs over the years until his battle with cancer. His favorite by far was working for Burgess Trucking. Woody had a passion for driving his Truck and the people he worked for.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 36 years, Jean Ferguson, his son, Matthew Edward Ferguson, one grandson, Bentley James Ferguson whom he loved with every breath he had, two sisters, Veronica "Roni" Ferguson, and Janet Bulls (Ronnie), two brothers, Wayne Ferguson, and Kevin Ferguson (Karen), his mother in law, Betty Daughtrey, two sisters in law Loretta Campbell and Grace Whitley and nieces and nephews. All that knew Woody knew of his passion for his Fur Babies, Buckshot, Panther, Dusty, and his special Lil Girl,  "Pretty Girl".

A funeral service will be held Wednesday December 4, 2024 , with Firefighter's Honors at 1PM in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family will receive friends Tuesday December 3, 2024 in the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM and suggests that memorial donations be made to your local fire department or The Harvest Christian Fellowship.
