Franklin – Willie Grey Johnson Vinson, widow of Claude Robert Vinson, Sr., passed away at her home on March 8, 2008. Born in Milwaukee, NC on June 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lottie Davis Johnson. She was also predeceased by a son, Claude R. "Bobby" Vinson, Jr. She was a former sales clerk at Leggett's. Willie Grey was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the Faithful Servant Sunday School Class. She was a member of the High Street Senior Citizens, Franklin Baptist Church Seniors, Hunterdale Seniors, the Grief Support Group at Franklin Baptist Church and had a passion for fishing.
A loving and devoted grandmother, Mrs. Vinson is survived by her daughter, Jean V. Old of Suffolk; sons, A. Carlton Vinson and wife, Faye, Jerry D. Vinson and wife, Teresa, all of Franklin and Richard L. Vinson of Pompano Beach, Fl.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Ricks Vinson of Franklin; brother, Charlie Lee Johnson of Potecasi, NC; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and her "card playing" family. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Robert G. Edwards and the Hospice nurses Angela Noia and Lisa McMahon and Celestine Blow CNA.
A graveside funeral will be held at 3 pm Monday in Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Richard Childress and the Rev. Sharon James officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High Street, Franklin, Va. 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
