William H. Riddick, Ii's Obituary
Franklin - William Henry (Bill) Riddick, II died September 5, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. A son of the late Dr. John D. Riddick and Rebie Whitfield Riddick, he was born in Danville and spent his youth in Roanoke. He attended Blackstone College where his father served as president and graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1953.
Mr. Riddick retired from the Accounting Dept. of Union-Camp Corporation and enjoyed many years of traveling with his wife, Gaynelle, who conducted group tours around the world for thousands of loyal clients. In 1973 he and his wife, his twin brother Bob and his wife Judy founded The Peanut Patch in Courtland and through the years remained a loyal fan. He was a devoted member of High Street United Methodist Church in Franklin.
Survivors include his wife, Gaynelle Edwards Riddick, two sons: William Henry Riddick, III and wife Nancy of Smithfield, VA and Thomas Duncan Riddick and wife Denise of Newsoms, VA. He was so very proud of his six grandchildren: Daniel Thomas Riddick (Mary), Anne Stuart Riddick, John Currie Riddick, William Henry Riddick, IV, Joshua Wayne Riddick, and Thomas Whitfield Riddick. Other survivors include his twin brother's wife, Judy Riddick and their daughters, Jane Riddick Fries (Ted) and Alice Riddick Shaffer (Paul) and their children, Noah and Erika Shaffer. He was very proud to be a part of the greater Edwards family numbering 60! He was predeceased by an elder brother, John D. Riddick, Jr. and his twin brother, Robert Whitfield Riddick.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at High Street United Methodist Church on Camp Parkway just west of Franklin conducted by the Reverend Nathan Decker, minister. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Courtland. A reception will be held in the Frankfort Memorial Fellowship Hall at the church. Visitation will be held Tuesday Sept. 8, 2015 from 6:30 - 8:00 at Wright Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 109 Irving Street.
