Franklin – William John Mitchell, 75, passed away December 19, 2018 at Retreat Doctors Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Mitchell was born in New York and was a son of the late William and Mary Koch Mitchell.

He was a retired truck driver and was a site attendant at the Flaggy Run and Joyner's Bridge dump sites in Southampton County.

He leaves behind his wife of 34 years Linda Davis Mitchell, children Christopher Swarmer (Crystal), William "Butch" Mitchell, Jr. (Debra) , Lora Ann Mitchell, John Mitchell (Cheryl), Shirley Austin (David) and Tonia Reed (Leonard), siblings Alvin Mitchell, George Mitchell (Samantha), Robert Mitchell, Maryann Van Arsdale (George), fifteen grandkids, numerous nieces and nephews and Good friends: Dennis Kriigel, Joe Blythe and William Faulk, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and Randy Johnson and two beloved pets Keeper and PeeWee.

A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 9 AM Thursday December 27, 2018 in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milner's Rd., Suffolk, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday December 26 from 6 to 8 PM in Wright Funeral Home. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
