Carrsville – William Junior "Alex" Lassiter, 64, died March 4, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Nansemond County, a son of the late Burt and Eva Rountree Lassiter, and was predeceased by two brothers, George and J. B. Lassiter. Alex was a U. S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War, a member of VFW Post 4411, and a farmer.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Virginia Carr Lassiter; four children, Ann Vincent, Clifton Vincent, Jr., Cindy Smullen, and Gloria Walters; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Wolfe and Margaret Aston; and one brother, Linwood Lassiter.
A graveside service, with Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating, will be conducted at 3 pm Tuesday at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Monday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
