Zuni – William "Billy" Holland Carr, Jr., 70, passed away June 25, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late William H. and Elsie Spivey Carr. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church, a retired farmer, and had retired from Gwaltney of Smithfield. He was a former National Guardsman.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Patricia Kitchen Carr; one son, Phillip Godwyn Carr and wife, Mitzi, of Carrsville; two dearly, dearly, dearly loved grandchildren, Phillip, Jr. and Edythe Carr; three sisters, Elsie Duke and husband, Matthew, of Plymouth, NC, Mary Butler and husband, Robert, of Carrsville, Frances Pettit and husband, Jack, of Suffolk; two brothers, James T. Carr and wife, Margaret, of Windsor, John E. Carr and wife, Mae, of Washington, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Carr was predeceased by a son, W. Holland Carr, III.
A celebration of Billy's life will be held at 11 am Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Webb and Rex Alphin officiating. Burial will follow in Colosse Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 25252 River Run Trail, Zuni, and suggest memorials be made to The Children's Center, 700 Campbell Avenue, Franklin, Va. 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
