Newport News– Wayne Clay Harrison, 65 passed away October 15, 2018.  A native of Franklin , he was the son of the late Fenton Wallace Harrison and Margaret Beale Harrison.  Rev. Harrison served in numerous churches over the past 28 years.  He met his wife while attending Averett University in 1972 and they married on July 7, 1979 in Franklin.  Rev. Harrison attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated in 1979 with a Masters of Divinity and Religious Education.  His most recent service was the Pastoral Director of Sunrise House in Hampton, VA and chaplain for the Bon Secours Hospitals.

Rev. Harrison is survived by his wife of 39 years Deborah Harrison; daughter Holly Scroggins (Spencer); grand-daughter Ashley Scroggins; brother Fenton Wallace Harrison (Melinda); sister Star H. Helms (Keith); and nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 19, 2018 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, VA with Dr. Phyllis Milton and Pastor Hoyle Green officiating.  Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests Memorial Donations be made to your local church.  The family will receive friends at Fred's Restaurant following the service. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
