Sedley – Wayne Varner Drake, 73, passed away March 30, 2025 at Signature Health Care of Norfolk. He was born in Franklin and raised in Sedley. He was a son of the late James Council "Chippy" Drake, Sr. and Ruth Hargrave Drake.  He was also predeceased by a sister, Jane Koenig.

Wayne attended Southampton High School and was a former technician at Johnson's Mill. He enjoyed going to the beach, decorating his door at his apartment for every holiday and riding the HRT Bus.

Survivors include a sister, Patricia D. Clark (Henry), a brother, James "Chip" C. Drake, Jr. (JoAnn) and host of nieces and nephews.
