Wakefield – Walter Harold Searcy, 87, passed away March 3, 2011 at Obici Hospital. He was born in Ashville, NC, the son of the late John Alfred and Hettie Clay Searcy. A navy veteran of WW II and a graduate of North Carolina State University, he was a retired forest manager for Union Camp Corporation. Mr. Searcy was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Christine Stubblefield Searcy; two daughters, Becky S. Duke (David) of Prince George and Susan S. Repp (Dave) of Mexico City, Mexico; one son, Keith Searcy of Franklin; five sisters, Nancy Searcy, Mary Searcy, Lena Brooks, Alice Ledford, and Edith Worsham; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday, March 6, 2011 with the Rev. Willie Guill officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Wakefield Fire Department or Wakefield United Methodist Church. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is assisting the family.
