Franklin - It is with sadness that the family of Virginia Temple Wrenn wishes to announce her passing on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. She died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 96.

Virginia is a native of Brunswick County, Virginia born on June 22, 1923 to Edmund Roderick Temple and Annie Tanner Temple. After marrying Clinton Forest Wrenn they moved to Franklin to start Wrenn Logging. Here they lived for the remainder of their lives. Virginia was a member of the High Street United Methodist Church and a Secretary of the Methodist Women's Circle. She worked tirelessly raising her children and subsequently grandchildren setting an example as a disciplined, loving and principled person. She demonstrated to us the importance of hard work, the significance of attention to detail, the value of a simple life, the joy and peace found through nature and most importantly the freedom and self-worth gained through education.

She spent most of her days in her garden which provided enormous joy and pride. She loved the unexpected discoveries she happened upon while exploring antique stores. She was a member of the Jamestown Society which reflected her love of history and pride of being a Virginian. She was a patron of the Library of Congress in an effort to support the preservation of our country's history and literature.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clinton Forest Wrenn and her siblings Edward Randolph Temple, James Edmund Temple MD, Pattie Mildred Temple and Miriam A. Brooks. She is survived by her children Vashti Wrenn Day and Winston Forest Wrenn; her grandchildren Kelly Day Jernigan and Temple Vashti Day MD; her great grandchildren Virginia Temple Jernigan, Elizabeth Potter Dy, Hayden Rice Jernigan and Camille Anne Jernigan; and many loved and respected nieces and nephews

The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the staff of the Village at Woods Edge Memory Unit for their steadfast care and concern for Virginia. We are eternally grateful to Mrs. Carolyn Cross for her tireless care and for being Virginia's best friend. To Dylon Lankford we thank you on behalf of Virginia for your loyal and devoted friendship and for your shared love of music.

Visitation will be held at High Street United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM Monday, January 20, 2020, followed by funeral services at 1 PM. Graveside service will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.  Those who desire may make a memorial donation to the High Street United Methodist Church in her honor.  www.wrightfuneralhome.org
