Obituary

Franklin - Virginia Ann Bailey passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025 at The Village at Woods Edge at the age of 85.  Born in Waverly, her family moved to Wakefield which she called home. Virginia Ann is the daughter of the late Jones and Virginia Marshall.  She is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years William "Bill" Bailey and her son-in-law Earl Gunn.

Virginia Ann was devoted to her family working as a homemaker and raising four children, but she would also work seasonal jobs to help make Christmas memorable for her family.  Virginia Ann enjoyed many things such as shopping with her children, cooking Sunday lunches for her growing family, and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren play and grow.   Virginia Ann also enjoyed being on the go, it did not matter where.  She loved being in the car to go on a trip, a ride through the country, or just to pick up something from the store.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  Family meant everything to her.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children Susan Gunn (Robbie), William Bailey, Jr. (Vanessa), Keith Bailey (Sheila), and Brad Bailey (Dan), four grandchildren, April Overton (Jesse), Kevin Gunn (Erin), Crystal Brownfield (John), and Sarah Leach (Caleb), and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Branche (Gilbert) and Mary Porter (L. F.), and three brothers, Jones Marshall, John Marshall (Nina), and William Marshall (Melinda).

The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Village at Woods Edge and the special caregivers who provided such loving care.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Friday, September 12, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at The Village at Woods Edge following the graveside service and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, Attn: Donor Services, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.

The funeral service will be livestreamed on Wright Funeral Home's Facebook page.
