Newsoms – Varner Jean Ivey, 56, died September 1, 2009. She was born in Franklin and was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church. Varner was a retired nurse and was a loving, caring, and gifted individual whose family will greatly miss her.
Survivors include her parents, Jean and Ralph Ivey; her daughter, Joanna Courtney Ivey: her sister, Teresa Van Damme (David); and her grandson, Cole Thomas Ivey. She is also survived by several uncles and aunts; Buddy Gray, Ann Gray Futrell, Blanche Semchyshyn, Joe Gray, Mike Gray, and a very special uncle, Kenneth Gray and his wife, Marion.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 am Saturday at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Barnes United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Betty Darden, 33701 Statesville Road, Newsoms, Va. 23874.
