Obituary

Franklin – Thomas Wayne White, 84, passed away April 24, 2025 in Zephyrhills, Florida.  Born in Gates County, NC on August 10, 1940, he was a son of the late Norfleet Joseph "Bud" White and Dorothy Brinkley White.  He was also predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth White; a daughter, Lynette White; a granddaughter, Tabitha D. White; and a son-in-law, Larry Shaffer.

Thomas learned his work ethic from his father and worked on the family farm until he was 18 years old and took a job at Union Camp in the Sheet Finishing Dept. that lasted 14 years.  He then started his own business, T. W. White, Inc.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 47 years, Yvonne Young White; two sons, Jimmy White (Lorie) and Jimmy Cushing; a daughter, Cherene Shaffer; eight grandchildren, Daniel Barrow (Jordan), Teri Joyner (Deke), Lauren Martinez (David), Samantha Mostoller (Austin), Chase Shaffer, Kimberly Shaffer, Shelby Shaffer, and Landon Cushing; and six great grandchildren, Makayla Barrow, Brodie Sines, Corbin Joyner, Emeri Joyner, Birdie Martinez, and Emory Davis.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, May 1, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Moore and Pastor Hoyle Green officiating.  Burial will follow in Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery, 1601 NC-32, Corapeake, NC 27926.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made The Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters (CHKD) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
