Branchville – Susan Oglesby Phelps, 66, passed away September 7, 2020 in her home.  She was born and raised in Roxboro, NC and was predeceased by her father, William John Oglesby.

Susan was a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and received her Master's Degree from Virginia State University.  She formerly taught at Southampton County Public Schools, Southampton Academy, Greensville County Public Schools and Chaloner Middle School in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, an active volunteer with the Blackwater Regional Library and Bookmobile, and a member of Branchville United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kristen Nicole Phelps, and her mother, Janelle Owen Oglesby.

Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Blackwater Regional Library, Courtland Branch or the Blackwater Regional Library Bookmobile, 22511 Main Street, Courtland, VA 23837.
