Chesapeake – Sue Cook Bryant, 79, widow of Leslie Bush Bryant, passed away June 27, 2007 at Sentara Leigh Hospital. She was born in Opelika, Alabama and reared in Franklin, Virginia, a daughter of the late John Ford and Inez Jarrell Cook. She was a retired assistant buildings manager in the General Services Administration, where one of the highlights of her career was shaking hands with President Gerald Ford during a visit in Norfolk that she organized. Sue was a member of Elizabeth River Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Terri B. Joyner and husband, Billy, of Virginia Beach; her son, Alan Bryant of Chesapeake; one sister, Nancy Martin of Hobe Sound, Fl.; one brother, Alex Cook of Clemmons, NC; four grandchildren, Alli and Emili Bryant, Christopher and Samantha Joyner; and one great-grandchild, Leyana Moy. She was predeceased by a brother, Johnny F. Cook, Jr.
The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 11 am in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Dr. A. Wayne Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
