Franklin – Steve Michael Jones, 63, passed away April 19, 2017 at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. Steve was a native of Bedford and reared in Gretna. He was a son of the late George A. and Doris Blankenship Jones. Steve was a retired Master Trooper with thirty years of service with the Virginia State Police and was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #151 AF&AM and the Franklin Shrine Club.

Survivors include his wife of thirty eight years, Cindy Jones, one daughter, Christine Doggett of Ridgway, IL, two sons, Derrick Jones of Waldorf, MD and Brandon Jones of Franklin, one brother, the Honorable George A. Jones, Jr and his wife Kaye of Chatham, five grandchildren, Caleb Jones, Jessica Doggett, Jeremy Doggett, Graci Jo Doggett and Ashlyn Brown, dear friend, 1 ^st Sgt. Greg Jackson and Steve's pets, Sassy and Patch.

A funeral will be held at 2PM Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Courtland Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Carpenter officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 7:30 PM at Wright Funeral Home. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
