Franklin – Stephen Bryant Spiers, 54, affectionately known as "Tiny" to many of his friends, passed away after a short yet brave fight with lung cancer, surrounded by the love and memories of those who knew him best.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Davis "Fern" Spiers, and his stepfather, Al Ferrell.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Becky Ferrell; his sister, Kimberly Emery, and her husband, Allen Emery; his niece, Tracy Emery; his loyal dog companion, Pepper; and the wonderful, extended family at Magco in Suffolk, where Stephen worked and was treated like family until the very end.

Stephen had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found joy in spending time in nature and target shooting with his friends.  He was a skilled marksman, a devoted dog lover, and, above all, a good and loyal friend. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his quiet strength and the genuine kindness he showed to others with that big, beautiful heart of his.

His memory will live on in the stories shared, the friendships he built, and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, April 14, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Chaplain Sharon Spivey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stephen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
