Franklin – Stephen Thomas Rainey, 65 passed away July 10, 2019 at his home in Franklin. Steve was the son of the late Junious Rainey and Myrtle Rainey. Left to cherish his memory is his son Justin Rainey, two grandchildren (Ashton, Breana), his sister Cindy Thomason (Henry), niece (Shelly Thomason), nephew (Beau Thomason) and his ex-wife and friend DD Turner.

Steve graduated from Franklin High School in 1972. He worked for over thirty years as a pipefitter with Union Camp/International Paper until the mill closure. This was followed by a brief work period at Repair Tech.  First and foremost, Steve was a loving and dedicated single father to his son. He was extremely hard working and had many different hobbies throughout his life. When he found something of interest, he was fully engaged. He was a wonderful cook and was famous for his many flavors of spicy deer jerky. He loved gardening and finally gave it up because he said it was an expensive way to feed deer. He could easily be recognized by the sound of his giggle or chuckle. He loved watching scary movies and was a great maker of Halloween costumes for his son. He was a skilled craftsman and made beautiful handcrafted knives.   Consider yourself lucky if you own a "Steve" knife. He enjoyed tinkering with motors and fixing things. He tried his hand at wine and beer making and was always on the internet, looking for the next hobby to interest him. Steve preferred solitude and did not believe in asking others for help. He was known for his absolute honesty and his stubbornness.  Most importantly, he was loved and will be missed by many, including his closest friends Karlus Bailey, Buster Cutright, Ronnie Ricks, and Jerry Riddick.

Steve was a very private person and never liked being the center of attention, per his wishes there will be no service.
