Franklin – Stella Lassiter Grady Acey, 87, died October 4, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Sunbury, NC, the only child of Charles W. and Lucy Jones Lassiter. Mrs. Acey was predeceased by two husbands, Lloyd Alton Grady and Henry Oscar Acey, and a son, Bruce Warren Grady. A graduate of Sunbury Schools, she was retired from Pruden Meat Packing, and A & P Tea Company. She was an avid cook and gardener. Mrs. Acey was a member of Burdette Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Peggy G. Gatje and husband, Carl, of Norfolk; a son, Robert C. Grady and wife, Faye, of Suffolk; a beloved friend, Melvin Crumpler of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Julie Burgess, Jean Farrell, Carol Brandt, Cathy Grady, Amy Santamaria, Mary Mudd, and Buddy Mudd; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday at Burdette Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
