Courtland – Shirley Story Ross, 88, passed away December 6, 2024 in Courtland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  Born in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late John Otis Story and Nancy Harcum Story.  She is also predeceased by her husband, Guy Wesley Ross; a daughter, Deborah R. Hawks; two sons, Michael O'Neal Ross and Joey Dean Ross; a sister, Inez Worrell; and two brothers, Reuben and Elliott Story.

Shirley was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law, Kathy Ross; six grandchildren, Shawn Maddrey, Jessica Newsome (Adam), Lacey Maddrey Snell (Henning), Wesley Ross (Amanda), Ashley Smith (John), and Jamie Stearns (Josh); and twelve great grandchildren, Gavin Edwards, Carlee Edwards, Riley Maddrey, Addison Newsome, Jackson Newsome, Zola Mae Snell, Loretta Snell, Madilyn Smith, Blake Smith, Mason Stearns, Kasey Stearns, and Brantley Ross.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Tracey Pugh officiating.  Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and suggests that memorial donations be made to Sycamore Baptist Church.
