Moyock, N. C. – Shirley Williams Robertson, 57, passed away April 13, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Petersburg, VA, a daughter of the late William Emmitt (Dick) and Josephine Braswell Williams. A longtime resident of Franklin, she was a graduate of Franklin High School, a secretary for Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Retirement Center and a member of Holy Neck Christian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Tonya R. Hassell of Suffolk, Va., and Tara R. Joyner and husband, Mark, of Gates, NC; one son, Jay E. Robertson, Jr. and wife, Angela, of Suffolk, Va.; her companion, Thomas Pugh of Moyock; a sister, Louise Crocker of Hampton, Va.; a brother, Donnie Williams and wife, Terri, of Dunn, NC; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Seth, and Caleb Hassell, Micah and Hannah Joyner, Kaitlyn and Ashley Robertson; nieces, nephews and friends and her beloved Bootsie and Patches. She was predeceased by her former husband, J. E. Robertson and a brother, William Atkinson.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., with the Rev. Shannon Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Kathy Worrell, 717 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851.
