Sedley – Shara Drake Kitchen, 78, passed away May 5, 2020.   Born in Suffolk and reared in Sedley, she was a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Drake, Sr. and Iva Holland Drake and was also predeceased by a sister Dorothy Burgess, three brothers Theodore R. "Ted" Drake, Jr., Wilbur Turner, and Melvin Turner.

Shara was a 1960 graduate of Southampton High School.  She was proud to have worked for W. H. Scott, Inc. for 9 years and Southampton County Public Schools for 43 years.  Above all, she loved her family and gave them all she had to give.   Shara was a member of Sedley Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, William Nick Kitchen, III; her children, William Nick Kitchen, IV, Robin Kitchen Johnson, and Martha Elizabeth "Beth" Kitchen; four grandchildren, Amanda Kate Johnson, Jenna Kit Johnson, Dalton Nicholas Hedgepeth, and Drake Marlowe Holliday; and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Rosemont Cemetery with Rev. Jim Foreman officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sedley Baptist Church or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 760 Lynnhaven Pkwy., Suite 201, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
