Sandra was a longtime resident of Petersburg, but lived many of her years in Newport News, before returning to the Petersburg area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David B. Sandra was active in the church teaching children about God's love and grace. She led neighborhood bible classes and held Vacation Bible School in her home for many years.
Sandra was an avid tennis player and enjoyed supporting her children's sports. She loved horses and attended countless horse shows with her daughter, Kit, and at numerous swim practices and swim meets with her son, Bill. She loved spending time with her four grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as Mimi.
Sandra also loved to cook and bake, often sending her children to school with sandwiches made from homemade bread. She was a member of several organizations, including the Garden Club, Christian Women's Club, and the Women's Medical Auxiliary. Sandra had an infectious smile and laugh and enjoyed spending time with her friends, always offering to put on a fresh pot of coffee. She was an avid photographer, who had an eye for capturing the beauty of life, and kept her home filled with pictures of nature and her beloved family and friends.
Her family rejoices in the knowledge that she has been released from the bonds of a broken body and is now enjoying her heavenly body with the Lord, her Father, carrying with her the eternal love of her family until they meet again.
