Mechanicsville – Sandra Vaughan Close, 77, passed away December 31, 2016 at The Hermitage in Richmond. Sandra was a native of Courtland, VA and was a daughter of the late Emmett Russell "Brick" and Janie Laine Vaughan.

She was a 1956 graduate of Southampton High School and attended Westhampton College. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, George Jordan Lane Close, one daughter, Tracey Close Pulliam and her husband T.W. of Richmond, one son, George Ashley Close of Mechanicsville, three grandchildren, Sydney Pulliam, Trent Pulliam and Bella Close.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 1PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Riverside Cemetery in Courtland, VA with the Rev. Andrew Book officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
