Courtland – Samuel Evan Turner, 31, passed away May 29, 2011 in Goldsboro, NC. He was born in Portsmouth and worked at Smithfield Packing. Survivors include his mother, Melanie Litten; his father, Bobby Turner and wife, Linda; two sisters, Tessa Timberlake and husband, Rob, and Kayla O'Rourke; three brothers, Richard R. "Ricky" Turner, Richard Thomas Young, and Christopher E. Turner; paternal grandmother, Emily Mobley Ferguson; maternal grandmother, Carol Shaffer; and special family members, Cathy Grizzard, Carl and Cindy Ferguson and their daughter, Taylor. The funeral will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Lankford officiating. The family will receive friends before and following the service at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
