Carrsville – Ruth Powell Saunders, 78, widow of L. W. (Billy) Saunders, Jr. passed away October 17, 2018 in her home.  Ruth was raised on Oak Grove Farm in Ivor, Virginia and was the daughter of the late G.C. and Christelle P. Powell.  Ruth was a homemaker and one of the founding members of the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, John W. Saunders (Lori Burgess and her children Tyler Burgess and Madeline Burgess); brother George C. Powell, III (Donna); sister Virginia P. Britt (Russell); two grandchildren Ashley S. Pearce (Allen), Matthew P. Saunders (Haley); two great-grandchildren Brynden M. Pearce and Branch E. Pearce; aunt Charlotte Price; and many nieces & nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Rev. Walter Johnston officiating.  Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service.   www.wrightfuneralhome.org
