Franklin - Ruth Howard Meade, 74, widow of R.W. "Bob" Meade, passed away March 19, 2007. Born in Colrain, NC, she was a daughter of the late W.J. and Mary Coleson Howard. She was predeceased by a sister, Edith Nicholson, and four brothers, John, Roy, Vernon and Lacy Howard. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Lou Ann Meade of Norfolk and Lori M. Samples of McIntosh, Fl. and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home. At Ruth's request, her body was donated for medical research. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 281 Independence Blvd., Suite 305, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
