Russell Patrick
Boes
Dec 9, 1960 — Nov 7, 2024
Franklin
Franklin – Russell Patrick Boes, 63, passed away peacefully at his home on November 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jamaica, New York, and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, Russell built a full life grounded in family, faith, and a deep love for the outdoors. Above all, Russell loved Jesus and his faith was an essential part of who he was.
He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 dedicated years of service, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. In retirement, Russell remained an active member of Kingdom Impact Church, where he cherished the fellowship and spiritual community.
Russell was a passionate animal lover and an exceptional hunter who found joy and tranquility in spending time in the woods. He also enjoyed fishing and being out on the boat, especially when taking his mother along. His love for nature was one of his defining qualities, and he often sought the peace that only time outdoors could bring.
Above all, Russell was a devoted husband to his wife of 34 years, Ann Boes. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Lane Smith; and his two daughters, Nichole Modlin and Tara Fleming (Jerry). He also leaves behind two sisters, Susan Anderson (Kirk) and Patty Moorefield (Steve); a brother, Richard "Dickie" Boes (Cathy); and seven beloved grandchildren: Makayla Kerr, Brenden Modlin-Castro, Ayden Kerr, Rayna Kerr, Ava Quidley, Conner Fleming, and Camden Modlin. Russell was predeceased by his father, Jacob Walter Boes, and his brother, Bob Boes.
A memorial service to celebrate Russell's life and legacy will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Kingdom Impact Church, 26151 Delaware Road, Franklin, VA 23851, with Pastor Matt Kidd officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to your local Humane Society, in honor of Russell's deep love and compassion for animals.
