Windsor – Rufus Clyde Cope, 77, passed away October 31, 2016 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was born in Annapolis, MD, a son of the late James Carlisle and Ideal Jenkins Cope and was also predeceased by his first wife Constance "Connie" Spivey Cope.
Rufus was a US Army Veteran and was retired from Lipton Tea. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman and checker player.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sue Stewart Cope, his daughter, Tonya Jane Cope, his twin sister, Marcia Cope Evans, his nieces, Ashley Spivey, Samantha Spivey, nephews, Brian Evans (Natasha), Michael Spivey (Elizabeth), Brent Staley (Jackie) and Barrett Staley (Jenny), his stepdaughters, Carol Cullipher (Doug), Debbie Kardel (Ed), his step granddaughters, Whitlie Ortiz-Martinez (David) and Courtney Swinson.
A funeral will be conducted at 2PM Friday, November 4, 2016 at Colosse Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7:30PM at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin and suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
