Franklin – Ruby Nora Lee Castellow, 99, widow of Basil Broadnax Castellow, died September 15, 2009 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bertie County, NC, a daughter of the late Eunice Brown and Ernest C. Lee and was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Morris. Mrs. Castellow was a graduate of Meredith College and a teacher for 34 years, most recently in Conway, NC and Franklin, Va. She was a member of High Street Seniors where she often participated in activities involving needlework and crafts. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and its Faithful Servants Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her daughter, Eunice C. Vick and husband, Jesse (Bill), of Courtland; four grandchildren, Cynthia Choate and husband, Richard, Ann Magee and husband, Kevin, David Vick, and John Vick and wife, Ann; seven great-grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Choate, Tiffany Vick, Meghan and Macy Magee and Justin and Kristen Vick; a sister, Alice Evans of Greenville, NC; and two brothers, Ernest Lee, Jr., of Colerain, NC and Earl Lee of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon James officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to the Castellow Scholarship Fund of Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High Street, Franklin, Va. 23851. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
