Zuni – Roy Eugene Council, 87, widower of Phyllis Vasser Johnson Council, passed away on January 17, 2022 in Sentara Obici Hospital.  Born in Bolton, NC, he was a son of the late Milton Clyde Council and Mary Partridge Council.  He was also predeceased by two step sons, Ray Johnson and Tom Johnson; three sisters, Edith George, Lucy Ivey, and Victoria Skipper; and three brothers, Neil Council and infant brothers, Lawrence and Clyde Council.

Roy was an Army Veteran and was a retired truck driver.

Left to cherish his memory is a step daughter, Faye J. Vassiliou and her husband Petros of Virginia Beach; a step son, Wayne Johnson and his wife Teresa of Suffolk; and a sister, Mary Glover of Franklin.

A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 2PM Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Moore officiating.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Burdette Baptist Church.
