Sedley – Ronald Edwards "Ronnie" Whitley, Sr., 75, passed away December 16, 2025 in Maryview Medical Center.  Born in Franklin, he was a son of the late Julian Linwood Whitley and Leatha Edwards Whitley.  He was also predeceased by a sister, Shirley Coggsdale.

Ronnie attended Southampton High School and received an Associate's Degree from Paul D. Camp Community College.  He served in the US Army and was a former Franklin City Policeman.  Ronnie was the owner of Whitley's Service Mart.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Ronald E. Whitley, Jr. (Luke) of New Bern, NC and Jason L. Whitley of Courtland; four sisters, Patsy Butler (C.J.), Linda Johnson, Nettie Boyce (Roger), and Jean Barrett (Keith); a brother, David Lee Whitley (Dawn); and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30PM Monday, December 22, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home followed by a Graveside Service at Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley with Rev. Jim Foreman officiating.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Sedley Volunteer Fire Dept.
