Newsoms – Roger Lee Francis, Sr., 71, passed away November 3, 2021 in Sentara Obici Hospital.  Born and raised in Newsoms, he was a son of the late Lona and Cleon Glover Francis.  He is also predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Scott Francis, and a brother, Kenny Francis.

Roger was a retired Clamp Truck Driver for the Roll Finishing Department at International Paper for 38 years.  He was a member of Newsoms Hunt Club and Newsoms Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Deborah Lynn Joyner "Debbie" Francis; a daughter, Tracey Lynn Francis Flythe (Joseph) of Conway, NC; a son, Roger Lee Francis, Jr. (Brandi) of Newsoms; a sister, Shirley Beaton (Jerry) of Newsoms; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey Flythe, Ben Francis, and Jake Francis.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Sunday, November 7, 2021 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Rev. Tom Wallace officiating.   Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and at other times at Lee and Brandi's home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Newsoms Baptist Church or the American Lung Association.
