Capron – Roger Garvin Edwards, TSgt, USAF, Ret., 84, died November 8, 2007. He was born in Southampton County, a son of the late Roger George and Stella Maddox Edwards. Roger was a Navigator/Gunner on B-24s during WW II and later a missile technician in the Air Force. He also was a retired security officer at the Southampton Correctional Center. He was a member of Adam's Grove Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Ruth Williamson Edwards; five sons, Roger Gray Edwards and wife, Linda, Richard Cory Edwards and wife, Annette, all of Franklin, Robin Chris Edwards of Drewryville, James Lucious Edwards and wife, Micheal, and Larry Lee Edwards and wife, Judy, all of Roanoke Rapids, N. C.; one brother, Billy Edwards and wife, Margaret, of Hopewell; six grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremiah, Crystal, Brittany, Jenna, Jennifer Edwards; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Shelby Edwards. Mr. Edwards was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Spence, and two brothers, Rodney and Nelson Edwards.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p. m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Drewryville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
