Franklin – Robert Rawls Nance, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026 in Sentara Obici Hospital.  Born September 19, 1951 in Suffolk, he was the son of the late Robert Rawls "Bob" Nance, Sr. and Alma Williams Nance.  He was also predeceased by his wife, Brenda Jarratt Nance.

Rawls was a graduate of Forest Glen High School and attended Paul D. Camp Community College.  He was a retired Lieutenant for the City of Franklin with 32 years of service and then went on to serve 17 years with Southampton County Sheriff's Department giving him a total of 49 years in law enforcement.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Chris Nance (Holley) of Franklin and Jeffrey Nance (Casey) of Yorktown, two grandchildren, Madelyn and Carter Nance, and his precious grand dog, Roxie.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyle Green officiating.
