Walters – Robert Earl "Buddy" Johnson, Sr., 88, passed away on February 9, 2023 in Sentara Obici Hospital.  Born and raised in Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late Cloyd Royal Johnson and Carrie Maude Spivey Johnson.  He was also predeceased by two sisters, Berta J. Smith and Nellie J. Britt, and a brother, James H. Johnson.

Buddy was a graduate of Carrsville High School and was a retired corrections officer for the VA Dept. of Corrections.

Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Johnson, Jr. (Jennifer) of Black Creek and David Wayne Johnson (Christine) of King William; a sister, Edna Story of Handsom; four grandchildren, Tiffany Johnson, Billy Johnson, Brittany Maffei (Jacob), and Donna Johnson; and a great grandchild, Carter Maffei.

The funeral service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Poe officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
