Franklin – Robert Griffin Edwards, 83, formerly of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Prince George, VA, died June 7, 2010 at Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation Center in Petersburg. He was born in Isle of Wight County, a son of the late Albert Curtis and Ada Belle Nelms Edwards and was an Army veteran of WW II. Robert was the former owner of Edwards Furniture and Auction in Franklin.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Norma Gene Butler Edwards; two daughters, Paula E. "Ginny" Burgess (Randy) and Joan E. Waymack (Brian); five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Willie E. Jones; and one brother, Joseph L. "DD" Edwards.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 10:00 am Friday, June 11, 2010 at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Cofield officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Thursday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggest memorials be made to a favorite charity.
