Obituary

Carrsville - Robert "Bobby" Milton Butler, Sr. went to be with his Lord at the age of 92 on January 4, 2026. He was born in Isle of Wight County on April 15,1933, son of the late Pressley B. Butler, Sr. and Francys O. Butler. He was married to the love of his life, the late Mary Carr Butler for 68 years. He was also predeceased by his brother P. B. Butler, Jr. (Altha), and sisters; Bessie Peasley (Joe), Elaine Griffin (JC), and Shirley March (Dalton).

He is survived by his loving children, Wanda Futrell (Donnie) of Suffolk, and son Robert "Robbie" Butler, Jr. of Colosse, his granddaughter Dana Thompson (Gene), great grandson, Grayson Thompson of Suffolk, sister-in-law Patricia Carr of Zuni, and brother-in-law John Carr, Sr. (Mae) of Washington, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Carrsville High School in 1952. He was a member of Colosse Baptist Church, Windsor, Virginia, where he sang in the choir. He served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer. After his service in the Army, he worked with his father on the family farm. He was then employed for 30 years in the sheet finishing division of Union Camp Paper Corporation in Franklin, Virginia. He was a member of WoodmanLife, Chapter 18 in Franklin, and Bronco Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling to the mountains and the Outer Banks, as well as collecting and fixing anything that was broken. In later years, he loved to "crack a joke" and tell stories of earlier times.

The family will receive friends at the home of Wanda and Donnie Futrell. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, Colosse Baptist Church at 2:00 pm, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 12:30 pm. Burial will be held at Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Colosse Baptist Cemetery Fund, 6361 Rhodes Dr., Windsor, VA  23487.
