Franklin – Robert Bruce Baker, 55, died April 23, 2009 at Norfolk General Hospital. He was born in Nansemond County, a son of the late Garland Robert Baker, Jr. and Patricia Ann White Baker. Bruce was retired from the customer service department at Union Camp Corporation and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Cross Baker; one son, Steven Robert Baker of Fairfax; two sisters, Hope Galishoff (Mitchell) of Alabama and Sherri Hines (Mike) of King William, Va; one brother, Bobby Baker (Debbie) of Mechanicsville; two nieces, Emily Galishoff and Grace Baker; three nephews, Charlie and Taylor Hines and Adam Baker; and very close friends, Richard and Jill Donovan of Carrsville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Monday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard Peerey officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Sunday at the church and suggests memorials be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church Building Fund, 3593 Carrsville Hwy, Franklin, Va. 23851.
