Richard L. Mays

Bacons Castle – Richard Lee Mays, 59, passed away May 3, 2008. Born in Suffolk to the late Willie Edward Mays, Sr. and Ruth Irene Carr Mays, he resided in Isle of Wight County most of his life and was a painter by profession.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved, Virginia Elaine Cook; his daughter, Rebecca Mays, and son, Lee Roy Mays, all of the residence and six sisters, Elizabeth Thomas and husband, Elvin, of Franklin, Hazel Boswell and husband, Joe, of Robersonville, NC, Virginia Hendricks of Virginia Beach, Nancy Chaney of Portsmouth, Mary Catherine Yen and husband, Buster, of Texas and Margaret Boswell and husband, Ken, of Waverly. He was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Shirley Eure, Edith Mays, Lloyd Mays and Willie E. Mays, Jr.
A memorial service led by Pastor Jimmy Acree will be held
7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
