Obituary

Franklin - Richard Henry Barnes, Jr. 95., passed away February 16, 2026 at The Village at Woods Edge.  Born in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Richard Henry "Sam" Barnes, Sr. and Gwendolyn Berry Barnes.  He was also predeceased by a sister, Rosa Lane Kincaid and her husband Ashby, and a brother-in-law, Perry Reynolds.

Henry was a 1947 graduate of Holland High School and served in the US Army from 1951-1953.  He was a retired Shipping Foreman in the Roll Finishing Department at Union Camp Corporation.  Henry was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and an avid golfer and bird hunter.  He was the best brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend anyone could ever have.

Left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Bessie Reynolds of The Village at Woods Edge and Mary Lee Warren (Dean) of Suffolk; a niece, Karen Kincaid Dunn (Kenny); and three nephews, Charles A. Kincaid, Jr. (Reba), Michael Reynolds (Debbie), and Mark Reynolds.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3PM Sunday, February 22, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Lindsay Poteat officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery in Suffolk.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made Bethlehem Christian Church or CHKD.
