Reuben Carpenter, 77, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Sentara Obici Hospital after a short illness. He was a son of the late Ernest Carpenter and Susie Duck Carpenter, and was predeceased by his brothers, Joe and George Carpenter. He was an Army veteran and was retired from Pioneer Wood Products, Suffolk. Survivors include his sister, Estelle C. Edwards and her husband Cecil; three brothers, Ernest M. Carpenter, Jonas P. Carpenter, and Mack H. Carpenter and his wife Connie, all of Franklin, and nieces and nephews.
