Randolph Bryant Starke, 81, died January 21, 2008. Born in Sussex County, he was the last of eleven children of the late Joseph T. and Betty Mae Avent Starke. An Army veteran of WWII and Korea, Randolph was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections with 31 years service and was a member of Capron Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diane Ward Starke; two daughters Betsy L. Cook and husband, Donnie and Bonnie S. Newsome and husband, Steve; one son, David A. Starke; three grandchildren, Kenneth Waugh, Katelyn Newsome, and Christopher Newsome; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at Capron Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Brady officiating. Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm today (Wednesday) at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Capron Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Fund, P. O.
