Franklin – Rachel Violet Rickert Dorn, 92, widow of John Thomas Dorn, passed away October 11, 2021 at home.  Born in Pittsford, Vermont on January 5, 1929, she was the youngest of eleven children of the late Virgil and Ada Gee Alexander.

Rachel was a business school graduate and a retired secretary for the State of New York and after she retired, became a nurse's aide. She loved taking care of people.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Robin Haag (Ed) of Phoenix, AZ and Susan Burt (George) of Windsor, VA; three sons, Daniel Collins (Debbie) of Rotterdam, NY, Lehman Alexander of Chazy, NY, and Thomas Alexander (Rita) of East Durham, NY; seven grandchildren, Shaun Williams, Jason Williams, Kiersten Boone, Adam Alexander, Jessica Haag, Daniel Collins, and Kristina Collins; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her favorite sister-in-law, Charlotte Wisell.

The family wishes to send special thanks to her granddaughter, Kiersten Boone, for the exemplary love and care she provided for the past several years.

A memorial service will be held at Providence United Methodist Church, 3105 Providence Road, Suffolk, VA on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 1:00 pm.  The family will be hosting a gathering and dinner for family and friends from 4 to 7PM following the service at the Windsor Town Center, 23361 Courthouse Hwy., Windsor, VA.
