Obituary

Franklin – Mary Paula "Polly" Cook, 84, widow of Johnny Ford Cook, Jr., passed away December 14, 2018, peacefully in her home with her family by her side .  She was born in Enfield, NC, a daughter of the late Paul Condrey and Hazel Caddell Condrey and was also predeceased by her son John Paul Cook, a sister Betty Appleby, and special aunts Jeanne Gooden (D.A.) and Ruth Walker (Johnny).  Polly was a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and was a retired elementary school teacher.  She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and a former member of the choir.  Polly was a talented artist and belonged to the Blackwater Artist League.  She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Polly was an accomplished equestrian and loved all animals.

Survivors include three daughters Katherine C. Loy, Lisanne C. Bischoff (Chuck), and Jennifer C. Shaffer (Bobby); one sister Abie Condrey; four grandchildren Hugh Bryant, Katherine Bryant, Paul Bryant (Valarie), and John Robert Shaffer; and three great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM Monday, December 17, 2018, at her Beloved Oak Crest Residence, 34457 Lee's Mill Road, Franklin, with the Rev. Nathan Decker officiating.   There will be a reception following the service.   The family would like to thank Hospice of Virginia and her wonderful caregivers Lizzie Darden and the late Ruth Baker.  In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial donations be made to the SPCA.  www.wrightfuneralhome.org
