Zuni - Phyllis Lorriane Johnson Council, 86, passed away August 2, 2017.

Born in Berlin, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Dudley and Edith Hedgepeth Vasser. Mrs. Council was retired from Windsor High School where she was Cafeteria Manager. She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church. Phyllis was predeceased by her first husband, Floyd Herbert Johnson; her son, William Herbert "Tom" Johnson, and four brothers, James "Totsie" Vasser, Wilbur Richardson Vasser, William Dudley Vasser and Edward Lawrence Vasser.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Roy Eugene Council; her daughter, Faye J. Vassiliou (Petros) of Virginia Beach; two sons, Floyd Wayne Johnson (Teresa) and Donald Ray (Terrilee) Johnson of Gates, NC; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 AM Monday, August 7, 2017 in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to Burdette Baptist Church, c/o Vanessa G.
