Obituary

Courtland – Paul James Cleveland, Jr., 83, passed away July 16, 2020 East Pavilion. Born in Elmira, NY, he was a son of the late Paul James Cleveland and Winifred Philp Cleveland.  Paul was also predeceased by his son, Jim Cleveland.

Paul was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict.  He was a respected mechanic and retired from Hancock Peanut Company in Courtland.  For many years, Paul was committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 211 in Courtland, and also kept the Troop bus in running order.  He enjoyed cooking for Relay for Life fund raisers.  Paul also enjoyed restoring classic cars and was especially fond of his 1971 Buick GS convertible.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Pat Cleveland; a daughter, Jan Cleveland Aleshire (Jimmy); a brother David Cleveland (Shirley) of Dundee, NY; three grandchildren, Kevin Owens, Brian Cleveland (Jasmine), and Jamie Cleveland (Grace); two great grandchildren, Aubrey and Cole; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, SEVA Chapter, in the name of Memory Loss Group of Franklin, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA  23502-4006 or the American Cancer Society, c/o John Stewart, 34443 Statesville Rd., Newsoms, VA 23878.  The family would like to thank the staff at East Pavilion for their compassionate care.
