Franklin - James Paul Carter, Jr., 78, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Southampton Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Boykins, VA to the late James P. Carter and Pearl Drake Carter.  He was also predeceased by one sister Josephine "Jo Ann" Carter Johnson.

Paul retired from St. Regis Paper Co.  He attended Vincent's Grove UMC and 'Majesty' was his favorite hymn.  Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his hunting/pet dogs, especially Lady.

Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Johnson Carter, one son, James David Carter (Linda) and one granddaughter, Victoria Lane Carter.
