Patrick R.
Burgwin
Jul 5, 1952 — Jul 5, 2017
Carrsville
Carrsville – Patrick Ray "Pat" Burgwin, 65, passed away July 5, 2017. He was born in Manhattan, Kansas, but spent the majority of his upbringing as a Dallas, Texan. Pat was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University, and built his career as a labor relations advocate for rights of the working class. This career was built through years of dedication to the United Food & Commercial Workers Union as an organizer and executive.
Pat enjoyed a diverse range of recreational activities. These experiences range from cycling, skiing, and even playing baseball for his college team. He often spoke of days back-packing various trails throughout the Rocky Mountains. Pat was drawn to seeking adventure within nature, and was described by friends as the kind of man who will "try anything once." In his later life, Pat was an avid marksman who enjoyed shooting skeet, and hunting wild game. He was an active member of Woodhaven Hunt Club. Pat enjoyed hunting deer with his friends at the club, and often enjoyed duck hunting trips with his family. Woven throughout all of Pat's life experiences was a keen love and appreciation of music. He was a man who not only sought adventure, but recognized the importance of being rooted in quality time with his loved ones.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Audrey Anne Burgwin, his father William Henry Burgwin, his daughter Natalie Elizabeth Burgwin, his son Martin Alexander Burgwin, his stepson Joseph Shockley, his stepdaughter Angel Shockley and two brothers, Todd Burgwin and Douglas Burgwin.
He was predeceased by his mother Donna Lee Metcalf Burgwin.
