Courtland- Patricia Ann "Patty" Jefferson Simmons, 68, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015. Patty was born in Roanoke, VA on December 23, 1946 to the late Crispin D. Jefferson, Jr. and Louise Harvey Jefferson.

She was a graduate of Westhampton College, University of Richmond and was a former physical education teacher at Southampton High School and retired in January of 2005 as Program Director of the James L. Camp, Jr YMCA in Franklin .

A resident of Franklin and Southampton County since 1971, Patty was active in many community affairs. She was a member of Franklin Garden Club and Garden Club of VA and served on the Board of Directors of Southampton County Historical Society and Cypress Cove Country Club.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Donald Lynn "Donnie" Simmons, and her daughter, Sarah Hancock Poole and husband, Jeffrey Alan Poole of Gordonsville, VA and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Sebrell Community Center, Sebrell with the Rev. Tom Harvey officiating. A reception will follow the service at the community center.
